Home Energy Rating System: HERS

In the not too distant future a home’s HERS rating will start having an effect on the home buying and selling process. As people become more aware of the advantages that come with owning and living in a green home, a home’s HERS rating will impact its value.

The HERS (Home Energy Rating System) program is essentially an energy rating system in which designated inspectors verify what’s been done to make a home more energy efficient. The lower the rating, the better.  The HERS rating is the byproduct of an energy audit.
